πŸ”¬ How It Works

Bromadiolone is a second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide. It inhibits Vitamin K epoxide reductase β€” the enzyme that allows rodents to recycle Vitamin K for blood clotting. Without clotting ability, rodents die from internal hemorrhage 4–7 days after consuming a lethal dose. Second-generation anticoagulants like bromadiolone are effective against rodents that have developed resistance to first-generation anticoagulants (warfarin, diphacinone).

Single-feeding efficacy: Unlike first-generation anticoagulants, a rodent typically only needs to consume a lethal dose in a single feeding session. This is a significant advantage in bait-shy situations.

βš—οΈ Mixing & Application Rates

No dilution β€” ready-to-use bait blocks. Place in tamper-resistant bait stations only.

Rat bait station placement
3–4 blocks per station
Place in tamper-resistant bait stations (required by law in most states for exterior use). Check every 3–5 days and replace consumed bait. In tamper-resistant stations away from children, pets, and non-target wildlife.
Mouse bait station placement
1 block per station
Place bait stations every 8–12 feet along active runways, against walls and in corners where mice travel.

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Second-generation anticoagulants are highly toxic to dogs, cats, raptors, and predatory mammals β€” secondary poisoning risk is significant
  • EPA requires tamper-resistant bait stations for all exterior rodenticide use (2023 regulations)
  • Keep children and pets away from all bait stations
  • If a pet consumes rodenticide, contact ASPCA Poison Control (888-426-4435) immediately β€” Vitamin K1 is the antidote
  • Wear gloves when handling bait β€” dispose of dead rodents in sealed bags
